Plastinauts originated in 1999 with two of the current members and a different drummer. After a few trips to the hospital and a vacation (read: rehab and Pima County Jail) singer and guitar player Chris Johnson reunited with guitar player Dennis the Red. Soon Leila Lopez and Michelle Lind joined on drums and bass respectively in early 2004. We call ourselves Plastinauts but we are not the real plastinauts. The real plastinauts are the citizen consumer economic units out there living, breeding and above all purchasing things in the suburbs, the heartbeat of america, we are their representatives, heralds of the sterile future which we hope will soon engulf us all.
Our Mission Statement:
To express views and visions with passion of art.
To utilize humor and anger creatively with satire.
To cope and be honest in our part as consumers. So many of us play into the system with our consumerism and our plastic suits of armor so we can feel less and less of the effects of our ignorant actions of buying and being "comfortable".
